Gray Primary School searched for a way to motivate their students to work in school. They soon found the answer, investing in their first SMART Board in September 2005 and then purchasing three more in March 2006. Gray Primary School quickly adopted them in their lessons every day using them in areas such as maths, research, presenting and finding that their motivating ability was a huge advantage.
Gray Primary School – Seeing the benefits.
Gray Primary School Teacher Natasha Ryan has seen the impact that the SMART Board has in her classroom. “The board is great to use to encourage the students in various different ways in the classroom. It can also be used for behaviour management, helping to keep the students focused on the task.” Natasha is also witnessing an improvement in the IT skills and team work of the students, and has observed a growth in their knowledge and confidence with the assistance of the SMART Board.
Natasha’s students are enjoying their new SMART Board. “The SMART Board is easy for teachers, but students also find it simple and easy too once shown the basics. All the children get the opportunity to use the SMART Board and the wireless keyboard. They love everything about the SMART Board.” Natasha Ryan feels that the student’s knowledge of the SMART Board technology will be a huge benefit to them. “This technology will become an attribute to the students as they get older and enter the workforce”.
Most importantly though, Natasha and the teachers at Gray Primary School are observing an encouraging factor which they have seen since the installation of their SMART Boards. That is the students love for learning with this new technology. As the teachers at Gray Primary School said “The SMART Board makes the children run to school… not walk”.
